This is a typical southwest build design. First the concrete rise which is called the stem wall. Then the metal footing with the weep holes, and then the stucco. Notice the gap between the footing and the concrete. Also every few inches a circular opening(weep hole). These openings lead to the inside framing of your walls. Scorpions only have to climb a few inches on this rough surface to get into your walls and then there are many openings throughout the home to make it into your living areas.
